Pregnancy Week 2

Week 2 of pregnancy is the week of ovulation. You will now be at the midpoint of your menstrual cycle, if yours is a regular 28-day cycle. You will be ovulating in no time and most likely to conceive. Your uterine lining would have been shed by now and your uterus would be getting ready to house a fertile egg, which will be released from one of your ovaries after ripening.

In general, every woman would be fertile 4 days in a month, which can be determined by her ovulation period. Therefore, you must always keep track of your menstrual cycle to know when you will be ovulating.

Obviously, a baby cannot be formed without a fertilized egg and this is where your partner’s sperm comes into play. If you are actively trying to get pregnant, you should be having sex probably every alternate day during your ovulation period. This is to make sure that the sperms that get into your body are healthy enough to make you conceive. During the time of intercourse, when ejaculation happens, millions of sperms will be sent into your vagina, of which only hundreds will successfully reach your Fallopian tube. Sperms can live inside your body for about six days. When one of your ovaries releases an egg, it should get fertilized within 24 hours. If it doesn’t, it will cause your menstrual flow.

Your Body
If you miss your period this time, then it is probably a first indication that you have conceived. This happens because, rather than shedding the uterine lining, your uterus builds it up to make it ready for implanting a fertilized egg, as mentioned earlier. Few days after you first miss your period, you may also note that your breasts are sore and also that you feel more tired than before.

Your Baby
At this point, formation of your baby has still not happened. When one sperm goes through the lining of your egg, your egg will get fertilized. If you have a regular menstrual cycle of 28 days, then the chance of you conceiving from days 14 to 17 is high. As a sperm might take up to 3 days to reach and fertilize your egg, which is present in the fallopian tube, the date in which you had intercourse will not necessarily be the day in which you conceive your baby.

It has been found that men find fertile women more attractive. If that’s the case, then week 2 is yours to shine! You may see that your skin feels better than usual and also that you feel sexier than before. This is actually your body’s effort to help you conceive. You can use this as an advantage.
